LightWave 9.0 Review Illustration

An illustration for my review of LightWave 9.0 for MacUser Magazine. Software used: LightWave 9.0 and Photoshop CS2

SketchUp 5 Review Illustration

An illustration for a review of SketchUp 5 that I wrote for MacUser Magazine. The idea was to use SketchUp only for this (although a bit of Photoshop was necessary), and to give a feeling of 'hand-drawn complexity'. Using SketchUp's X-Ray mode has added a great feeling to the image

Spline Tools Article Illustration

An article for Computer Arts magazine in a 3D series that I did for them. This was modelled in form•Z and rendered in Cinema4D

Leatherman Tool

An illustration of a Leatherman multi-tool done with mind-numbing literality for a MacUser article on "Tools for 3D" (Geddit?) Modelled and rendered in LightWave 5.5

Starship Troopers Arachnid

A model of the famous arachnid warrior from the famously brilliant/crap film Starship Troopers by Paul Verhoeven. I built this to illustrate a talk that I gave on metanurbs modelling. Modelling, texturing and rendering done in LightWave 5.5. Texture maps painted in Photoshop 5.0 (I think...it was a long time ago)
Another view...Interestingly, this was done entirely using Planar Texture mapping – LightWave didn't support UV mapping at the time. The eagle-eyed amongst you will no doubt see the joins. I always promised myself that I'd re-visit this one day and do it properly...but no.

Illustration For Article "Architecture on the Mac"

An image done to illustrate an article that I wrote about using the Mac Platform for architecture. Based on the Puente Alameda in Valencia by Santiago Calatrava. Software used: LightWave 8.0 and Photoshop 7.0
